along the influence

If someone is under the influence of something, they are lower than their expectations. And to be above the influence would mean to be higher than expected. So what would be along the influence? Can you be above and under the influence of something? I think you could. Say you tried a drug and liked it. You try it again, but you don't go out of your way to do it. You are still above the influence if you know you can't gain anything out of the drug and it can only worsen things. But still, doing the drug is under the influence. I think this situation would be balanced along the influence. I heard my friends debating about being above and under the influence and one of my friends said you can also be along the influence. That gave me something to think about and I thought I should blog it and see other peoples thoughts of being along the influence. Do you think there is a state of being along the influence?

I agree with Matt here. It's possible to stay along the influence but often some people's luck just runs out. One of my greatest pet peeves is when someone looks at someone doing something and doesn't stop to question why they may be doing that. Instead, they are so quick categorize. So maybe the situation demands that they do that or maybe they do it of their own free will, but I don't think labeling anyone helps us better understand them nor does it help the people we label.

I'm glad to hear people talking about where to draw the line though, because a lot of things in life need that sort of balance.

That is really interesting because I've never looked at it like that before. I think maybe being along the influence isn't really much of anything. You are ALWAYS going to have some kind of influence in your life; whether it's through media, other people, or even sibliminal that you don't even notice present in your life. So inless you are living way in the mountains far away from civilization and grow your own food and what not, I don't really think any of us are free from influence. Aww that makes me a little sad.
